Professor Lisa O’Malley – Conference Chair

Professor Lisa O’Malley is an internationally recognised thought leader in Marketing and Consumption. She is a member of the Academy of Marketing (UK) Executive and Chair of its Research Committee with particular responsiblity for driving research quality and impact. An acclaimed critical marketing scholar, Lisa is widely published in leading marketing and business journals. She is an Editorial Board Member of  Marketing Theory, the  Journal of Marketing Management  and  the  Irish Journal of Management,  and has co-edited five journal special issues.  Lisa is an innovative and accomplished educator and has won Teaching Excellence Awards from the University of Warwick and the Shannon Regional Consortium. She currently teaches Relationship Marketing and Marketing Leadership at the Kemmy Business School and has previously taught at the Universites of Warwick, Nottingham and Cardiff. Lisa engages and collaborates with external stakeholders, and alignes teaching and research with contemporary challenges in business and society in order to inform policy and practice.

Professor Eoin Devereux

Professor Eoin Devereux is Assistant Dean for Research in the Faculty of Arts Humanities and Social Sciences at UL. He is also an Adjunct Professor in Contemporary Culture at the University of Jyvaskyla, Finland. Eoin is internationally recognised as an expert in the fields of media and popular music. His publications include ‘Understanding The Media’ (2014) published by Sage (London). Eoin is co-editor of ‘David Bowie: Critical Perspectives’ (with Aileen Dillane and Martin J. Power).   He has also published short fiction (short stories and poetry).   His short story ‘Mrs Flood’ was broadcast by RTE Radio 1 in 2014 and his poem ‘The Bodhi Tree’ was published in Hennessy New Irish Writing in The Irish Times in 2017.   He has been a panelist on popular culture themes at Electric Picnic, Ireland and and the Institute for Contemporary Art, London.

Dr. Mary Nunan

Dr Mary Nunan is a contemporary dance artist – choreographer, performer and mentor. Her professional career began when she joined Ireland’s first publicly funded contemporary dance company: Dublin Contemporary Dance Theatre (1981-86). She was founder Artistic Director of Daghdha Dance Company (1988-1999). Throughout her career Mary has created a substantial body of critically acclaimed solo and ensemble choreographies that have been performed in national and international venues including: South Bank Centre, London and Pompidou Centre, Paris. The screen adaptation of her dance-theatre work ‘Territorial Claims’ was selected for screening at the Lincoln Centre’s Dance-for-Camera Festival in New York City (1998). She was the first Course Director of the MA Contemporary Dance Performance at the University of Limerick (1999-2016). In 2016/17 she was visiting guest lecturer at the Royal College of Art, London. Mary was Bealtaine national dance artist-in-residence in 2017. She was a member of the Arts Council/An Chomhairle Ealaíon (2003-08) and Chair of the Special Committee that produced the Arts-in-Education report, ‘Points of Alignment’.

Steven Dahlberg

Steven T. Dahlberg has more than 25 years of experience collaborating with diverse experts from around the world to help people better understand how to tap into and apply both individual and collective creativity. He founded and directs the International Centre for Creativity and Imagination, directs the Creative Problem Solving Institute, and was a founding board member of the National Creativity Network. Steven authored the foreword to the book  Education is Everybody’s Business: A Wake-Up Call to Advocates of Educational Change  by Berenice Bleedorn; co-hosts the  Creativity in Play  radio show; authored the white paper on creativity, arts and aging for Americans for the Arts; and co-authored the “Beyond X and Y” blog on generations at work for  Talent Management  magazine. He    developed and taught undergraduate and graduate creativity courses and seminars on creativity in education, creativity and social change, and creativity and innovation in healthcare for the University of Connecticut, Yale University, Post University, Rhode Island College, and Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, among other universities. Steven has worked and collaborated with many organizations, including the World Cultural Economic Forum, GE, Google, Pilobolus, Guggenheim Museum, Lincoln Center Institute, IBM, The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Yahoo!, UNESCO, General Mills, Microsoft, Louisiana’s Office of the Lt. Governor, New Economics Foundation, and Habitat for Humanity Guyana. In addition, he’s worked with toy inventors and attended ice cream school.

Dr. Leonie Lynch – I.NY Conference Coordinator

Dr. Leonie Lynch an entrepreneur and PhD graduate of the University of Limerick, Department of Management and Marketing. Her research interests is Visual Literacy and how it is deployed in everyday life, exploring how consumer culture facilitates and therefore guides visual learning. In framing and situating her research within consumer research, it is suggested that consumer society stimulates active participation by providing consumers with an image bath of infinite visual resources that are useful for developing and deploying visual literacy.
